About the Campaign

This is a brand new campaign called Smart Recycling.    I’ve seen way too many people throwing garbage into recycle bins without knowing what the repercussions are.  I want this campaign to be a peaceful campaign that will present factual information about recycling.   People need to be told about the importance of recycling, and have knowledge about doing it in the proper way.  I believe people aren’t educated properly when it comes to recycling.  A majority of people don’t know the benefits.  Also the people who are throwing trash into a recycle bin do not know that they are actually hurting the system.  If people can be taught how to do it the right way, the system can be more successful than it already is.  When a recycling bin has too many contaminants or non-compostable material, the whole thing is considered contaminated and is actually just sent to a landfill anyway.  I’ve seen this happen often on the West Chester University campus, where kids are actually throwing trash into these bins.  I don’t think these people are doing this on purpose, I just think that they do not know that they are doing wrong.
